Magic Hands: Harness the Power of Shamanic Heritage
Magical hands made from alabaster are not just ordinary collectible items or decorations. These hand-carved artifacts from Andean maestros of the Qero tribe are deeply rooted in pre-Inca times and carry the power of ancient mystical practices. In this article, we’ll guide you through the fascinating world of these “hands of power,” called Illu, their use in energy work, and the rules for their use. What should you avoid, and how can you fully utilize their potential?
Introducing the Magic Hands
The magical hands, also known as "hands of power" or Illu, are hand-carved from alabaster in the Sacred Valley near Cusco. These artifacts have deep roots in pre-Incan times and carry the knowledge of mystical practices from the oldest Peruvian historical lineages. The hands are designed for working with subtle energy and can be used for various types of energetic interactions – from giving thanks to the Earth (Pachamama) and conducting offerings (ofrendas), to healing, remote work, and protecting spaces and individuals. They are meant for both receiving and sending energy, as their design suggests. These are truly powerful shamanic tools, and so we will also look at what to be cautious of.
The hands of power reflect an important philosophical concept of Andean shamanism, the principle of sacred exchange – AYNI. As beings of the middle world (Kay Pacha), the ultimate purpose of our lives is to learn the perfect exchange, the harmony between receiving and giving. Beings who only take fall into the lower worlds (Ukhu Pacha), while those who only give reside in the upper worlds (Hanaq Pacha). For us in the material world, the most important practice is to perfect the concept of balanced AYNI and reflect it in all aspects of life, including relationships. These magical and beautiful hands can support you energetically in practicing this balance.
Illu Are Not for Everyone
Even if you feel drawn to buying these hands, take a moment to consider if Illu is right for you. This artifact is intended for experienced hands only. Using the magical hands requires a certain level of experience and sensitivity. Here are some guidelines to follow:
- Not for the inexperienced: The magical hands should only be used by those with at least a basic knowledge of shamanic and energy practices.
- A personal item: Once unpacked, the hands adapt to the energy body of the person who starts using them. Ideally, no one else should use or even touch them.
- Ethical use: The hands should never be used to influence anyone without their knowledge and consent. The artifacts are also blocked by the shamans to prevent misuse.
- Moral and ethical code: The use of the hands must align with moral and ethical principles. Their power should be used only for good.
The Ritual of First Connection
To fully tap into the potential of the magical hands, it’s important to first perform a connection ritual. Here’s a simple guide:
- Unpack in solitude: It’s best to unpack the hands in a quiet, clean space where you won’t be disturbed. Take your time, and don’t forget to cleanse the space with incense or other purification methods.
- Preparation: Take the hands in your own – left hand holding the left, right hand holding the right. Mimic their gestures with your hands – the left hand open, the right hand closed.
- Visualization: Close your eyes and imagine holding a powerful tool. Feel the hands becoming part of your energy field. Acknowledge that you are holding mighty artifacts capable of interacting with subtle and unseen realms of our world.
- Energy practice: Visualize drawing energy into your closed hand and accumulating it. Inhale and imagine pulling energy into the closed hand – both yours and the stone’s. Exhale and send energy out through the open hand into the space around you.
- Repeat: Perform this ritual as needed until you feel the hands as part of you. Only then will they become activated for further spiritual work.
- Lastly, remember maintenance. As alabaster is very delicate, don’t forget to regularly cleanse and charge them, as you would with any other crystals.
Ritual of Conscious Exchange
Illu has three main uses, and we’ll introduce one here – the ritual of conscious exchange:
Preparation: Find a quiet space and light two candles. Reflect calmly and privately on two things: what you want to attract into your life and what you want or need to let go of.
Intention: Formulate each intention into one word or a short phrase and write them on two small pieces of paper. One paper represents what you want to attract, the other what you want to release.
Using the hands: Take the hands in yours, right hand with the right, left with the left. Place each paper under the corresponding hand – what is to come in the closed hand, and what is to go in the open hand.
Visualization: Close your eyes and breathe deeply, visualizing the process of releasing and receiving your intentions. Through your left open hand, send out what is to leave, and through your right hand, receive the manifesting power of your desired intention. Breathe deeply, visualizing energy flowing through your hands.
Storage: After completing the visualization, place the hands in an upright position in a visible location, leaving the papers under them. Ensure that no one but you reads the papers.
Time frame: Let the hands work in your vicinity for at least 21 days. During this time, you can hold the Hands as needed and feel the activation described above.
Maintenance
After 21 days, clean and recharge the hands. You can either continue working with the same intention or "program" them with a new one.

Always remember the ethical and moral principles in using them and give yourself time to properly connect and activate their power.
